History
"rich traditions . . . facing the future"

The people of Holy Spirit Catholic School have a long history of flourishing with the challenge of change.

We remain grounded in our rich traditions and have our feet planted solidly in the present. Yet our many responses to the changing needs of our parish have created a habit of turning our face to the future, making us respected leaders of educational innovation in the Great Falls community.

Milestones

  • 1947. St. Gerard Majella School opened as the parish school of St. Gerard Majella Church.
  • 1963. St. Peter and Paul School opened as the parish school of Sts. Peter and Paul Church.
  • 1966. Holy Family School opened as the parish school of Holy Family Church.
1985. Blessed Trinity School opened as a three-parish school serving St. Gerard, Sts. Peter and Paul, and Holy Family parishes.
  • 1985. Blessed Trinity School opened as a three-parish school serving St. Gerard, Sts. Peter and Paul, and Holy Family parishes.
  • 1999. The three parishes merged to become Holy Spirit Parish. The school's name was changed to match that of the parish whose ministry we are, becoming Holy Spirit Catholic School.
  • 2006. On Pentecost Sunday, Holy Spirit Parish had a ceremonial ground breaking for our new church across the street from the former church.
  • 2007. October 21. The Church of the Holy Spirit was dedicated at a special mass preceded by four days of special pre-dedication events.
  • Future. Now that the church is complete and when the necessary funds are available, the former church building will be remodeled for the school.

Remodeling the building is not a stretch of the imagination since it was originally constructed as a school. Much needs to be done to meet current building codes and 21st century school needs. We look forward to the exciting task ahead of us!
