Grandfriends Day

"thank you for the gift of our parents . . . "

Come in. Pray with us. May we serve you refreshments? Could we take your picture? This is how Holy Spirit students host their grandparents and other special friends at the annual Grandfriends Day, an event traditionally held the morning of Holy Thursday.

After an uplifting prayer service in the church, refreshments are served in the gym where cameras snap and seventh and eighth grade students print and mount family photos of the occasion. During the last hour of the morning, grandfriends visit their grandchildren’s classrooms. In some classrooms there are special projects or games for the family groups to share. In others, grandfriends are able to observe lessons in progress; some even share their own answers and knowledge.

What a wonderful way for children to be able to say "thank you" to these important people in their lives - for the gift of their parents and for their unswerving support of the children's many activities.
