First grade teacher Jeanne Vlasie came to Holy Spirit in 1997 with a B.A. in Elementary Education from the University of Great Falls and five years’ experience as a preschool head teacher at St. Thomas Family and Child Care. Working at Holy Spirit is special to her because she feels the “love and commitment to all children by all the people at the school. Parent involvement,” she says, “is wonderful. The staff works together to create a wholesome, religious, loving atmosphere for children to learn and prosper in these crucial growing up years.”
Second grade teacher Vonnie Smith is a Billings native. She graduated from the University of Great Falls and worked for Great Falls Public Schools for thirty years as a teacher assistant, job coach, math tutor and teacher, most recently in middle school. Vonnie says: “I am pleased to be teaching at Holy Spirit School where I have the opportunity to teach faith and Christian values. I am also enjoying the chance to teach young children.”
Sue Beattie, 3rd Grade - Lessons and assignments
Sue Beattie has taught 3rd grade at Holy Spirit since 1999. Because she has also taught grades 4, 5, 7 and 8, she knows where 3rd graders are going. With her B.S. in Elementary Education, she has taught in the San Francisco Bay area as well as a small mining town of only 200 people, experiences which give her an understanding of children from many backgrounds. Sue says she loves teaching at Holy Spirit because of the small class sizes, the student and parent work ethic, and the emphasis on spiritual development as well as academics. She also enjoys the freedom to be creative in her teaching.
